ABOUT ME

"Keep your dreams close to you, nobody can ever take those away from you"

Andrew McDonald was born in Coventry, on 7th October 1970, first born of Andy and Hilda McDonald. He would spend the majority of his childhood wrapped in a cocoon of wonderment and happiness as his parents hid the heartache which was tarring at their hearts following the loss of their second born in 1974. Andrew would spend the rest of his life growing up as an only child and spent his childhood blissfully unaware of any family trauma, bouncing between holidays with his parents, his Aunt and Uncle and Stanley, County Durham.

Andrew attended the Woodlands School where he would eventually leave in 1987 following his exams. Despite the wishes of his parents, Andrew would leave education and take his first steps into full time employment. Joining a training scheme, Andrew would spend the next five years working and training in a family run butcher shop.

In 1991, his life would change forever when he met his future wife, Mary Bridget Ryan and after a whirlwind romance the couple would become engaged before the end of the year. With plans for the future shaping, there world would change dramatically in 1992 with the birth of their first daughter Laura Angela. The birth of their daughter would mean a career change and a position at a Pizza delivery chain beckoned. Andrew would go from delivery driver to assistant manager during the five years he spent with the business.

In 1995 the birth of his second daughter Peri, would eventually lead to another career shift the following year and in 1996 not only would Andrew go onto a successful career within Royal Mail; where he would carve out over twenty years performing almost every role within the company, but he would finally marry Mary in a small family ceremony at Coventry Registry Office. In 2000 the couple would have a third daughter, Kiara Mia and Andrew would begin to write short stories for his daughters. After spending much of his early life writing stories for his own pleasure, it seemed a natural progression to write for his daughters and brought to life worlds of wonderment to their young lives. By the end of 2003, their fourth daughter Tegan, was born and completed their family unit.

It would not be until 2013 and birth of his granddaughter Ivy Snow that he would make the decision to bring the worlds inside his head to life and spent the next few years bringing his dream and turning it from a dream to reality and with the encouragement of a close friend and family he would embark on a journey which would lead to the release of his first novel and the second novel that he wrote 'Rain' on the Kindle through Amazon.

Through life, Andrew never really knew what he wanted to do or which path to take until his dreams turned to reality. He believes it is never to late to seize the day.
