"Faith...hope and love. These three...and the greatest of these is..."
With everything we do, what is the greatest motivation? Success? Recognition? Fame? Fortune? Or perhaps all of these. But perhaps...just perhaps, it's something else...something on a primal level. One thing which drives our constant need for validation. That look that says everything is alright. The smile that says I care, even if I don't tell you. The slightest of touches that makes your heart skip a beat and sends a thrill coursing through your soul. Love...its the one thing which drives everybody to greatness, the one driving force which makes us aspire to become better people. The words and encouragement from a love can forge the greatest from us and strive us to our dreams. Having love in your heart and love in your soul is the greatest motivator anybody could ever ask for.
Rain is the debut novel from Andrew J. McDonald which although can be described as Science Fiction, isn't what you would call general Science Fiction. There are no ray guns, no robots, no alien monsters, just a story based on Human endeavor. Taking its main inspiration from the struggle of the American pilgrims, Rain paints a picture that life is the future is hard. With internal struggles for power and external natural dangers, Rain poses an intriguing dilemma which lies at our heart. Can Mankind survive the future when it finally leaves the planet and what does the future hold for us as a species.
