Perhaps, someone you know could sparkle and shine...

The only thing that will ever stop you achieving your dreams is yourself. This took me a long time to realise. I would blame life, time and the actions and expectations of others as a buffer to my own failings. You see, I always wanted to be a writer. To create worlds and people to live in those worlds, but what I wanted wasn't how others saw me and to my chagrin I followed their expectations. I was encouraged not to follow my dreams and desire, but instead get a proper job, a proper career. Earn an income. Earn respect. Do something worthwhile, and stop dreaming of something that will never happen. To this point I buried my dreams under the monotony of school...of work as I grew and became a worker, a boyfriend, a husband, a father and finally a grandfather. My dreams? They remained hidden, pushed down into the darkness of my soul where they slowly struggled for life. For my whole life though, I have felt a part of me was missing. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife and family more than anything in the world, but there was a part of me that remained hollow...the part of me that went out everyday to provide for them. I had a hunger. Not one of glory, not one of fame or fortune, but the desire to bring entertainment to others. The need to immerse people into the depths of my imagination and leave them gasping for more. I needed to write and not just for me or my family, but for everyone who would read my stories. So after 48 years, my dream finally came true and I basked in the sunlight for the first time. Myself, truly. Now, we finally get to the point of this blog. Their are hundreds/thousands/millions of people like me who never followed their hopes and ambitions because their seed was never nurtured. Dreams are like seeds. They need attention to thrive, they need love to grow and they need support to shine. The world is full of people willing you to fail, willing to drag you down, but don't let them. If you have a dream follow it and tell people about it. Don't let it die inside you, let it sparkle. Help others to fulfil their own dream. In a world of darkness, what we need is light, what we need is hope, what we need is love. If you know someone who has a dream, help them. Feed and nurture that dream and let them sparkle and shine!
