People never really stop loving books...

In this big bad world of digital downloads and instant streaming, I suppose at heart I can be called old fashioned in my view of the world. Or am I? Everything today is done at such a hurry, instant messaging, digital downloads, super fast broadband...blah...blah...blah. Am I stuck in my ways to think a phone is for talking to friends on while a camera is for photos, and while I do understand and see the 'convenience' my heart still yearns for a simpler life. I would much rather buy a CD than download one, the whole process of browsing and fighting for minutes with the awkward packaging before finally withdrawing the tiny silver disc and it is no difference with books. In a world of digital books...e-books...online offers and instant access to thousands of titles, there is nothing more thrilling than travelling to your local bookstore, browsing across the numerous titles all fighting for supremacy with their excitingly garish covers. The thrill of picking up one book after another and reading the blurb on the back...flicking through the pages and having the smell of freshly cut paper invade your senses. I love books, the knowledge they give us...the places they can take us. Nothing can replace a good book...and nothing should. There is nothing in the world like a good book...the look, the smell, the excitement, the thrill of it resting in your hands. Without a book, life would be so much poorer...
